Two-Spirited People of Manitoba Inc.

The eight Two-Spirit Teachings were introduced at the 28th Annual International Two-Spirit Gathering held at the Back to Batoche Festival Site north of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. A special meeting was held where gathering participants contributed their understanding of the roles and contributions of Indigenous LGBTQ/Two-Spirit people.

TSPM provides:

  • Educational workshops about Two-Spirit people and the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community;
  • Training on anti-homophobia, transphobia, and related human rights policy development;
  • Networking and collaboration with Two-Spirit groups in Canada and the USA;
  • Responses to media requests on issues affecting Two-Spirit people; and
  • Linkages to print resources, websites and DVDs.

Our mission is to improve the quality of life of Two-Spirit (Aboriginal gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans) people in Manitoba, which includes raising funds for and assisting in providing appropriate advocacy, education, health services, housing, employment training and cultural development.

TSPM encourages and supports people to learn about First Nation, Inuit, and Metis history, culture, languages and teachings. Two-Spirits are welcomed into the sweatlodge, Sundance, and pow wow circles.
